Everything you should buy before tariffs start / Black Friday 2024

Black friday usually is a time where a lot of junk is bought. Maybe it gets used a few times, maybe not. But you should take advantage of these prices to get things you’ll actually need to get by should things become prohibitively expensive after tariffs are put in place. I’ve linked below to some great sale prices for items you can actually use.

Food

Ketchup/Mustard/hot sauce Plain food can be boring

Tuna Keeps just about forever and edible without cooking

Coffee Good for trade too.

BBQ sauce I’m buying one myself right now.

Cranberry juice good for UTI infections and shelf stable while sealed

Smooth peanut butter cheapest and most stable protein available

Crunchy Peanut butter for those that like the crunch

Almond butter No-stir, good for those that can have almonds but not peanuts

Soylent complete nutrition Has literally everything a person needs to thrive. Just add water.

Soylent Nutrition shake Now you don’t even need to add the water!

Soylent Mix of flavors In case you want to try several flavors at once.

Soylent plus brain booster claims to help with focus. Maybe that will make all the difference. Actually a bit less expensive per ounce on sale.

Pumpkin flavored Soylent I bought two

Dutch oven completely oven safe and useful to cook in the oven, stovetop, or on a fire

Essentials

Light Bulbs This speaks for itself.

Toilet Paper We went through this before. Avoid running out again.

Rechargeable batteries A great charger and aa/aaa battery bundle for a brand I personally use

Entertainment

Fender Acoustic guitar

Drum Set

Harmonicas

Mandolin

Banjo

Music is a very satisfying hobby and a fun way to spend time with family and friends. They are the most important thing when times get tough.

Fire tv stick is a configurable and hackable android device that can be set up to access your digital media library. There are loads of media projects set up to take advantage of it as a media center for your collection without an internet connection. More on that later.

PS5 with disc drive The price is below MSRP and it has a disc drive, which is great in the long term since you don’t need to depend on servers to play games, disc games go on sale more often, you can borrow them from libraries for free, and they will exist after Sony decides to stop hosting servers to download the games you already bought.

Kitchen

Stanley coffee and soup thermos This design is the Shark of drink containers. Unchanged since before any of us were around. I’ve depended on mine for years with now issue.

Stanley water bottle with straw for those that want a super durable bottle with straw.

Cosori Food dehydrator A great price for a great food dehydrator. It will be handy for preserving all sorts of food items and sterilizing food you want to eat now. (Such as larvae in beans).

Tools

First aid kit Everyone should have one of these in their car and home. Also, learn cpr and other first aid techniques. Knowledge weighs nothing.

Leatherman Free P4 I’ve never seen this good a price for this tool. It will serve you well.

Leatherman Wave+ The classic multitool is at a great price. It’s the gold standard.

Olight mini 2 flashlight It’s not going to light up the whole trail for you, but it’s a great flashlight to keep on your carabiner or back pack strap. Very affordable.

Olight Baton 4 Premium A water resistant flashlight with a ridiculous battery life. I bought one over a year ago and use it every couple of days. I haven’t charged it since I first got it.

The other most popular items I’ve probably missed a lot of things that you’ll need, but look here to see if there’s anything that can help. I hope this served you well. Send me a message on Instagram (To the right.) if there’s anything I should add to the list.
